Marjorie Celona’s first novel, Y, was published in 2012 by Hamish Hamilton/Penguin Random House Canada, in 2013 by Simon & Schuster (US), Faber & Faber (UK), Suhrkamp (Germany), and De Bezige Bij (Netherlands), and in 2014 by Gallimard (France), Mlada Fronta (Czech Republic), and Juritzen (Norway). Y won France's Grand Prix Littéraire de l’Héroïne for Best Foreign Novel; was shortlisted for the William Saroyan International Prize for Writing; was a finalist for the Center for Fiction’s Flaherty-Dunnan First Novel Prize and the Dioraphte Jongerenliteratuur Prijs (Netherlands); and was selected as the #1 Indie Next Pick from IndieBound.
A graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, Marjorie has published stories, book reviews, and essays in The O. Henry Prize Stories, The Best American Nonrequired Reading, The Southern Review, Harvard Review, The Sunday Times, and elsewhere. Born and raised on Vancouver Island, she teaches in the MFA program at the University of Oregon.
